Four MAin Types of Imperialism
There are four main types of Imperialism.
1. Colony:
- A piece of land or territory directly governed by a foreign power, using force. The foreign power will use it's own military and officials to govern in new territory, and force the natives into submission.
2. Protectorate:
- The natives in the territory are allowed to govern their own people, but the outside power is still in control.
3. Sphere of Influence
- The government is run by the natives, but an outside power is allowed exclusive access to trade routes and natural resources.
4. Economic Imperialism
- When a private company controls a less developed country with the interest of the economic resources instead of government power.
